The Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has appointed an exceptional Nigerian priest, renowned for his rare communication skills, as Chairman of the Board of Benue Television Corporation (BTC).
In a statement dated 5 March 2026, signed by Akpam Babel, the Media Aide to Deputy Majority Whip, Hon. Simon Gabo, commended the Governor “for appointing Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku as Chairman of the Board of BTC.”
Citing the appointment as an “honour to Ushongo, and Mata in particular,” Hon. Gabo described the appointment as well deserved.”
It noted that he has a “versatile background in mass media—21 years’ experience with Vatican Radio and currently Executive Director of Catholic Television of Nigeria.”

According to the statement, the cleric worked for “21 years as Director of Communications for the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja,” equipping him “with the requisite experience to succeed.”
The Deputy Majority Whip, a philanthropist, “appreciated the Governor for his commitment to service in Benue and his regard for the people of Ushongo, and assured him of continued support for his re-election and future policies.”
Ordained on 16May 1981, Fr. Alumuku is the parish priest of St. Louis Catholic Church in Fab Global Estate, Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja.
Rev. Fr. Alumuku holds a doctorate in social communications from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, graduating in 1996 with a Summa Cum Laude, the highest distinction.
With 12 years of experience working with Vatican Radio as a contributor to the African synod before becoming the founding director of the Catholic Television Abuja, the 67-year-old is a Fidei Donum priest from the Diocese of Gboko.
This appointment marks a significant milestone, reflecting both Fr. Alumuku’s profound dedication to service and his ability to connect with diverse audiences through the power of media.
