SCIAF Condemns US-Israel Attack on Iran, Retaliatory Assaults Across the Middle East

The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) has condemned the recent joint US-Israel attacks on Iran, urging for restrain amide escalating retaliatory assaults across the Middle East.  

In a statement, SCIAF Chief Executive, Lorraine Currie, condemned “the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran and their retaliatory attacks on Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, and Israel.

Currie also stated that, “We are appalled by the breaching of International Law as innocent civilians and non-combatants, including children, are put in serious harm’s way in a conflict they have not caused.”

The Chief Executive urged everyone to “join us in praying for the families who have lost loved ones and for a path towards peace during this tumultuous time.”

The body re-echoed Pope Leo XIV’s “sentiment,” which “calls for reasonable dialogue and diplomacy instead of violence.”

Pope Loe had noted that “Faced with the possibility of a tragedy of immense proportions, I make a heartfelt appeal to all the parties involved to assume the moral responsibility of halting the spiral of violence before it becomes an unbridgeable chasm.

The Holy Father emphasised, “May diplomacy regain its proper role, and may the well-being of the peoples, who yearn for peaceful coexistence founded on justice, be upheld. and let us continue to pray for peace.”

SCIAF noted that “Justice and the care for the life of every human being must be at the heart of each political decision made. Violence causes nothing but fear, pain, and grief.”

Established in 1965, SCIAF partners with various organisations to respond to humanitarian disasters in eight countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, assisting vulnerable people.

SCIAF creates awareness and raises money to support just courses in a designated country of need on a yearly basis.
