SOB: Charisma and Apostolate
With a spiritual framework heavily rooted in the teachings of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (the Beatitudes), the Sisters of the Beatitudes, who profess the traditional evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience, try to balance their daily lives between intense contemplation and active parish ministry.

Founded by the late Bishop Joseph Bagobiri in 1995 as a congregation of women who dedicate their lives to prayer for the universal church, the SOB is an indigenous diocesan religious institute that is tailored to meet localised spiritual and pastoral needs by journeying with families experiencing difficulties in Nigeria and globally.
The congregation, which operates its central novitiate and formation program in Madakiya, a town within the Kafanchan Diocese expanded its numbers significantly in July 2022, when its first major batch of six novices professed their temporary vows.
While more sisters made their first profession of vows at Kwoi Parish, aligning with the diocesan assembly in June 2023 and in June 2024, eight additional novices underwent their first religious profession ceremonies at Fadan Kamantan.
In November 2025, the congregation celebrated a historic milestone by hosting its formal Perpetual Religious Profession ceremony, anchoring the sisters as lifelong consecrated members.
