A prominent Christian and official of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has been killed along with his wife and two children in targeted violence due to “his faith and community standing.”
Plateau Award-winning investigative journalist, Usman Kim Masara, who made the disclosure, stated that “This was not random violence” stressing that Comrade Jonah Matthias Dukut’s death was “a coordinated assault to eliminate Christian leaders and destabilize the community.”

Providing details about the arson on the people of central Nigeria, Masara narrated that the incident occurred “In the early hours of Monday, just after midnight, Jonah and his family were asleep in their home in Kawel, Mushere North district of Bokkos LGA, Plateau State, when terrorists deliberately invaded his compound.”
The journalist who provided an eyewitness account disclosed that “the attackers called him by name and swore to spill his blood as they smashed his car and battered down his door, trapping him, his wife, and two sons inside their home,” adding that “All four were slaughtered.”

The senior reporter for TruthNigeria also stated that “the assailants, speaking Hausa and Fulani, specifically hunted down influential Christians in the community.
“Alongside Jonah, they murdered a pastor, a former army officer, and a newly posted government health worker who was killed with his patients and their caregivers.”
According to him, “The attack in the village of 50-60 brick houses, 60 miles south of Jos, the Plateau State capital, lasted until around 4am.
“By sunrise, 22 Christians lay dead and were buried in a mass grave, with at least one Christian teenager hospitalized for bullet wounds.”
Advocatus Africa gathered that until his death, Comrade Dukut served as the branch chairman of NUT in Bokkos from 2019 to 2021, ran for the State Chairmanship, and later became the North Central secretary.
