Despite pushback by the government on Christian genocide in Nigeria, US Congressman Riley M. Moore has finally presented the Official Report of the matter to the White House, including what commentators describe as “potential solutions to end Christian persecution in Nigeria.”
In a statement, Congressman Riley M. Moore disclosed that “Following today’s productive meeting at the White House, I want to thank President Trump for redesignating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern and for his Administration’s commitment to protecting our brothers and sisters in Christ from persecution and addressing the broader security challenges plaguing Nigeria.”
Recall that President Trump redesignated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) on 31 October 2025.
Moore maintained that “Since President Trump redesignated Nigeria as a CPC and tasked me to lead a Congressional investigation, I have worked diligently with my colleagues to produce the report we presented today.
“I also want to thank House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, Vice Chair Mario Diaz-Balart, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast and Congressman Chris Smith for their leadership on this comprehensive investigation and delivering this report to the White House.”
I saw with my own eyes the horrific atrocities Christians face
The Congressman presented the pathetic situation of Christians in Nigeria, which he personally witnessed.
“I traveled on a bipartisan delegation to Nigeria and saw with my own eyes the horrific atrocities Christians face, and the instability the Nigerian government must combat. Through Congressional hearings, expert testimony, meeting with Internally Displaced People, hearing from religious leaders, and engaging with high-level Nigerian government officials, we have provided a clear picture of the threat environment in Nigeria and the horrific persecution Christians face.”
He stressed that “Our brothers and sisters in Christ have suffered in silence for too long. The world is now watching, and I urge the Nigerian government to take the opportunity to deepen and strengthen its relationship with the United States.
“Doing so is in the interest of both our great nations. Together, we must address these pressing security challenges and bring an end to violence against Christians.”
The politician clarified that “This report outlines concrete steps to impose accountability measures, counter radical Islamic terrorism, and lays out a plan to work in coordination and cooperation with the Nigerian government to bring security to all the people of Nigeria.”
The report comes after several months of a thorough investigation, a bipartisan congressional trip to Nigeria for fact-finding, meetings with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), listening to testimony from expert witnesses, engagement with religious leaders, and meetings with senior government officials.
Potential Solutions to Ending Christian Persecution in Nigeria

Co-funding donor-sponsored humanitarian assistance through faith-based organisations by prioritising IDPs and their host communities in the predominantly Christian middle belt and responding to early warning signals to prevent attacks and kidnapping while holding those who ignore the warnings accountable.
Seeking to remove the Fulani militia from confiscated productive farmland to enable the return of displaced communities to their homes, whilst supporting the rebuilding of infrastructure and agricultural productivity.
Ensuring technical support to the government of Nigeria to reduce and eliminate violence from armed Fulani militia, ensure comprehensive counterterrorism cooperation to rid the region of foreign terrorist groups that pose a direct threat to the US and counteract the hostile foreign exploitation of Chinese illegal mining operations and their destabilising practice of paying protection money to Fulani militias.
Increasing accountability by requesting proof if progress before obligating additional funds and ensuring programmes that address religious freedom, atrocity response, legal reforms, and improve policing.
The report also recommended treasury department programmes and activities to strengthen the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system, which will safeguard U.S national interests, establish a U.S Development Finance Corporation investment in Nigeria’s middle belt and undertake a general audit to ensure effectiveness.
Congressman Moore and the members of the House Committees on Appropriations and Foreign Affairs formally presented the comprehensive report at the White House.
President Trump had commissioned Congressman Moore and Tom Cole, chair of the Appropriations Committee, to undertake a comprehensive investigation into the alleged persecution of Christians, including other infractions of security in Nigeria.
The report highlights concrete steps to end the persecution of Christians in the West African nation, on the one hand, and countering incessant extremist violence in Nigeria’s northern region.
