Jalingo Diocese: “Renovation of the Bishop’s and Vicar General’s Offices is timely.” Very Rev. Fr. Peter Makong Tari

Following the recent dedication and official blessing of the newly renovated offices of the Bishop and Vicar Administration of Jalingo Diocese at the Mile Six Secretariat by Most Rev. Charles Hammawa, a key figure in the Diocese has lauded the efforts of the prelate, describing it as a laudable initiative.

Speaking with Advocatus Africa, the Administrator of Our Lady Queen of Peace Cathedral, Jalingo, Very Rev. Fr. Peter Tari, underlined that “the renovation of the Bishop’s and Vicar General’s offices is timely.”

The cleric explained that “These offices have been in use for about thirty years,” but “they were constructed in the early years of the Diocese, and only minor renovations had been carried out until now.”

He also clarified that “This is the first time a total overhaul has taken place,” adding that “the renovation was undertaken to preserve the Church’s longstanding tradition of proper record-keeping and to create a conducive working environment for the Bishop and his Vicar in carrying out their spiritual and pastoral responsibilities.”

Providing further detail about the Monday, March 23, 2026, commissioning, Fr. Tari disclosed that “the work was supervised by Rev. Fr. Sunday Muke Patrick and Mr. Yakubu Luka Kiki” respectively.

Earlier, Unitatis Media reported that Bishop Hammawa “rededicated the offices as a hub for both diocesan governance and pastoral outreach.”

The Jalingo Diocesan media maintained that upgrading the facilities reflects “a commitment to administrative excellence and providing a serene environment for spiritual leadership,” emphasising that
“Under the stewardship of Bishop Hammawa, these refreshed facilities stand as a testament to the growth and vision of the Jalingo Diocese.”

Praying that “these offices remain a source of grace for the entire Catholic community,” the media outfit stated that “during the rite, His Lordship prayed that all who enter,” maintaining that “clergy, laity, and visitors alike — would encounter God’s peace and find inspiration for the Gospel” in the offices.
